____ Karen’s friend treated her like a jerk in front of a bunch
of other kids. Karen thought of this totally cool way to get revenge,
but she knew the tension between her and her friend would just get
worse if she did this. So instead of getting even with her friend,
Karen forgave her and extinguished a fiery situation.
____ Carly noticed a girl in her gym class that she’d never
seen before. And then she noticed her again at lunch. The girl may
have always been at Carly’s school, but Carly had never noticed
her before. And apparently no one else had either because the girl
was by herself. Carly decided to sit with her at lunch to quench the
girl’s need to know someone cares about her.
____ Rick can’t stand it. His brother always gets his own way,
and Rick never does. So today he did something to make himself feel
better about it. He rigged up a bucket of water over his brother’s
bedroom door. When his brother opened the door, the water came splashing
down on his brother’s head. It was totally cool.
____ Nikki’s friend, Jenna, has started going to some pretty
wild parties. The kids at the parties are popular, and Jenna loves
to think she’s part of their group. Nikki knew it was only going
to cause trouble for Jenna, that pretty soon she’d probably start
drinking alcohol all the time, and who knows what else would follow.
So Nikki took a chance that Jenna would hurt her feelings and told
her, "Jenna, I really care about you, but I’m afraid that
you’re headed for trouble. I think you’re going to get involved
in stuff that will hurt you." By doing this, Nikki was part of
a cleaning process in Jenna’s life.
____ There are a bunch of crabby old people in Jason’s church;
but Jason has decided he’s going to be nice to them and treat
them with respect. His actions are refreshing.
____ Chad didn’t want to obey his parents. He didn’t feel
like obeying his parents. So when he chose to obey them anyway, they
were totally surprised. It refreshed all of them like a fun waterfight.
____ Christiana did something pretty hard today. She chose to make
it a rehydration day. All day long she served people without ever
expecting anything in return. In doing so, she was rehydrating their
dry lives. (If you don’t know what rehydrate means, ask
your leader.)
____ Kass was a dissolver today! He smiled and was friendly to the
weird old man down the street whom no one ever talks to. By doing
this, Kass softened up the old guy’s hard heart.
